today i would like talk about of the document page twenty five.
this 'cartoon' has been drew by KAL and published in the "Economist" in 2008.the caricature represents a
pretty big old man, who has long white hair and a small beard.
He has a hat with the colors of the flag of the United States and wearing a pants with red & white stripes.
we
can obviously observe that his clothers refers to USA.
This man is uncle Sam, and he often personified the United States in political cartoons.
Uncle Sam is a
common national personification of the American government that according to legend came into use during
the War of 1812 and was supposedly named for Samuel Wilson.
Uncle Sam symbolize the government and its
power.
Around him we can see many people taking care of him, for example, a woman washing her hair.
These
people are immigrant came to america around the world to find freedom and a good job or they do bad jobs.
This cartoon is an opposition of the American dream.
