Sarah Jessica Parker, his girlfriend at the time, dropped him after 7 years of relationship, she was exhausted by his attempts to make Robert sober, that's why his two friends, Sean Penn and Dennis Quaid landed at his house one morning to force him into a center allow his detox in Tucson, Arizona.

Three days later, Robert escaped with his tiny water bottle into the desert where he walked for two days.
