ORAL SCIENTIST VS CLI-FI AUTHOR
(Sam on stage, in front of his PowerPoint, and Lucas in the
corridors)
Sam: Hello, I’m David Brown, a scientist, that studied in
Cambridge University, and I am here to show you that the
situation on earth is critical due to global warming.
On this
graph, we are here, and we can see that if we do nothing the,
in the next 80 years, the temperature will increase.
It is due to
CO2 emissions (show it on the graph), the low, moderate, and
high growth.
There is some variability between scenarios, in A2,
A1B or B1.
On this other graph, there is the sea level increase that…
So you should act to save the planet.
(Interrupted by Lucas)
(Lucas come on stage)
Lucas: Stop stop David! I’m an author named Scott Miller.
Did
you even look at your graphs? It’s too hard to understand your
statistics.
You cannot raise people’s awareness on climate
change by showing them statistics that they don’t even
understand.
Sam: Well, what other way do you have to inform people about
global warming?
Lucas: You have plenty of other ways, but in my opinion the
best one is Cli-Fi.
Sam: What is this, Cli-Fi?
Lucas: Are you serious, you don’t know cli-fi? It’s a literary
genre that tackles climate issues such as global warming.
Cli-Fi informs people about what natural disasters could happen
in the future if we don’t act now…
Sam: But what’s the point? I’m already in charge of informing
people about the future of our planet if we don’t act.
Furthermore, my statistics are true and reliable whereas yours
are totally wrong, don’t reflect reality, are exaggerated
and will probably never happen.
My statistics have been
precisely studied before publishing them.
Lucas: Listen, my goal,....
