Basketball in USA (NBA)
Intro : James Naismith, sports teacher, invented basketball in 1891 in United States to
maintain the physical condition of his students during the winter.
The sport quickly became
popular and spread to universities and high schools across North America.
Indeed, basketball
is much more developed in the United States than in Europe and is played professionally in
high school.
The best university basketball players are integrated or "drafted" in the NBA.
The NBA (National Basketball Association of America) is the first basketball league in the
United States and recognized as the best in the world.
It was created in 1946 and is currently
chaired by Adam Silver.
Now, basketball, along with hockey, baseball, and American football, is one of the four most
popular sports in the United States.
But, why is the NBA so popular and what are its different impacts on American society?

NBA : 30 teams separated 30 teams divided into two Conferences: East and West.
Each team play 82 games and then it’s the playoffs.

Racism ? Yes the NBA plays an important role against Racism; For example, during
the recent events with George Floyd, many players had refused to play and took part
in the Black Live Matter movement by going to protests.
This had also allowed many
fans to do as their idols and take part in the movement.
This shows the influence of
the NBA.
NBA has long been seen as a social lift for the black American community and a

symbol of diversity.
Indeed, it is a sport which is accessible to all and since 1906
playgrounds have been installed in poor neighborhoods.

Why this subject ? I chose this subject because I have been playing basketball in a
club for several years and I was interested in knowing more about....
