This expression was first used in 1991 by Saskia Sassen, an American sociologist, to describe important cities such as New York City or Tokyo.

New York City is composed of 5 boroughs which are the Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens, and Staten Island.

This city is located on the East coast of the USA, and it is included in the Megalopolis of Bos wash which is a continuous urbanized corridor along the north-eastern coast of the United States, going from Boston to Washington D.C. First of all, we will talk about 1) the cultural and touristic influence of NYC, then we will discuss about 2) the Economic and financial influence of NYC as a global city and finally, we will explain why 3) NYC is a world village. 1) The cultural and touristic influence of NYC - A huge amount of tourists visit New York City every year with around 55 million of tourists in 2022, including 9 million of world tourists, this city attracts worldwide tourists that come there to visit famous places and discover typical dishes. -There are a lot of famous cultural places in New York City: First of all, we all know the Statue of liberty in the south of Manhattan, the most emblematic monument with more than 4 million visitors every year. Then, there are also the museum of modern art located in Manhattan and the Metropolitan Museum of Art, two of the 20 most visited museums in the world which clearly show that NYC is a city known for its art.
