Each night, his motherblocked the mortal view of Ether, and each day Hemerarevealed his brilliant blue to the people below.Some Greek poets and writers claimed that Ether wasthe source of all life, the soul of the universe.Ether was said to be the father, with his sisterHemera, of the sea goddess Thalassa, and of manynatural forces, such as anger, lies, sorrow, and pride.
