English ‘talknshow’
Good afternoon, everyone,
What I would like to share with you today is one of my
most thrilling experiences ever.
I’ve been practicing piano since I was 6, so this year is my
tenth.
It’s been a long intense journey, yet there was a week
when it felt really special.
I mean it was special among special
moments.
4 years ago, on my 6th year, I had to take a class called
Musique de Chambre.
In this class the pianist usually plays with another
instrument (a violin, cello, flute, etc), but I was surprised
to find out that I had to play a 4 hand-piece of music, by
Brahms.
Indeed, I needed to share my piano with
someone else which was a new thing for me.
So, this is the music sheet.
It is set of 16 waltzes that are
played successively.
It’s a bit torn ahahah.
My partner’s name is Quentin.
We got sent by our teacher
to an intense piano training week.
My teacher said that we
had the capacity for it, and that’d we learn a lot of things
technically and musically.
At the beginning of the week, we had lot of difficulties
coordinating ourselves, mostly because our hands came to
meet themselves and thus causing shocks, and that would
interrupt our performances.
A lot of different teachers would come and teach us, and
some were even coming from abroad; we had a Russian
teacher, that had a real strong accent, which made it
difficult for us to understand her.
And we also had a
Japanese teacher, who ended up second ranked in an
international piano contest, and her name I think, was
Aiko.
It was still really funny, because they would tell us
about their lives, and we would learn more about how the
classic music professional world works.
Though it was also
really traumatising.
Their manners of teaching were really
harsh (classic music requires lot of discipline and
manners); they would shout at us, and even sometimes
slam the partition on the piano; that usually left us in a
state of shock.
But outside of a class room, they were
really nice and respectable people.
