Specific character :
Durga is also called "Tryambaka" means the three-eyed goddess.
The left eye represents desire (the
moon), the right eye represents action (the sun), and the knowledge of the central eye (fire).
She is
wearing a red sari with ten bras.Sa power was such that neither man nor god could vaincre.Sa the
hair, raised crown spreads in long tresses shiny black.
Polularity / ifluence
Durga was worshiped since the 5th century, probably even much earlier.
It is mentioned especially
in the Ramayana and Mahabharata the various texts of the Puranas, and is even mentioned in the
literature of the Veda.
In general, Durga is regarded in northern India as the gentle bride,
symbolizing family unity, while in the south, it is his warlike aspect predominates.
The largest festival dedicated to Durga takes place in the fall all over goddess Durga Inde.La is
embodied in new forms; they worshiped every day during the festival of nine days of Navaratri.
This nine-day period following the New Moon of the month of Ashvina is considered the most
beneficial of the year in the Hindu calendar.
