Do fugitives lives belong to everyone, as models and martyrs of
democracy?
History in America has been marked by slavery for more than a hundred years.
Indeed,
black people didn’t have any rights! This let to a lot of rebellions and attempts of
escaping.
Underground Railroad Reenactment is a significant way of helping us remember
our history as well as honoring the fugitives who suffered from discrimination.
First of all, this allows us to truly understand what happened during that period, to be
aware of our ancestors mistakes and discrimination, so that this problematic becomes a
matter of common concern.
We all have our responsibility, as it is part of our country’s
culture and past.
Therefore, it helps us visualize events that took place more than a
hundred years ago in order not to reproduce them.
Besides, “the fugitive Cure” s role is to honor the victims and carry their story through
the years.
As it is absolutely impossible to pay tribute to all those who died between the
18’s and 19’s century because of slavery, reenactments constitute a smart concept which
allows people to commemorate the victims while learning about history and culture.
Since these reenactments are of greater concern to black people, it seems important to
address a broad audience regardless of its ethnicity, in order so as not to perpetuate any
kind of breeding, which caused so much suffering at the time.
Therefore, reenactments
celebrate the courage of many slaves who fought for their freedom, a courage that
should be widely admired…
