proba what are the usual / typical elements of fairy tales ? CHARACTERS : How are they ? Who/ What are they ? Are they any typical charaters from fairy tales ? In fairy tales, there’s often a protagonist with an antagonist who is closed to the protagonist.

For example Cinderella and her step-sisters or Blue Beard and his wife.

It is also common that the principal characters are rich (Rapunzel or the Beauty and the Beast).

Characters like prince(sse)s, witches/sorcerer or creatures are also well known in fairy tales. It always starts with “Once upon a time”, the protagonist always do a mistake or something they weren’t meant to do and try to fix it.

They end up resolving it, and the tale finishes with “And they/he/she live(s) happily ever after.” Fairy tales include good examples of the repetitive, rhythmic and patterned language of traditional stories, there’s also short sentences and the language used is common. Love, fear, justice, greed, jealousy, perseverance, punishment, retribution, kindness, mercy, justice are tones of fairy tales. To finish, fairy tales are always written in the past tense (past simple, past perfect, past continous). Example: He was sleeping when they arrived.
